U31 is an award-winning interior architecture and design studio led by creative principals, Kelly Cray, Neil Jonsohn and financial principal, Nancy Dyson. The firm focuses on diverse commercial, residential and hospitality projects for clients across the globe, including luxury homes and large scale mixed-use developments. Kelly’s background in condominium and real estate developments is characterized by thorough project management skills and a highly creative conceptual process that results in projects that are both functional and innovative. He sees the built environment as an opportunity to challenge preconceived ideas; working closely with his team and consultants he oversees each step in the design process to ensure deliverables are met and that the creative vision is executed with accuracy.
Kelly studied Interior Design at Algonquin College in the advanced studio program and is NCIDQ certified. Working in the field since 1996, he believes in continuous learning and feels a deep responsibility to clients to remain current on the latest trends, materials and technologies. Kelly draws inspiration from popular culture and his many travels throughout North America, Europe and Asia; he has journeyed twice to China to receive the International Council of Interior Architects and Designers RING award. Recent accolades include Canadian Interiors Magazine’s Best of Canada award for ‘The Roy’, The Building Industry & Land Development’s (BILD) award for Best Large Sales Centre for the ‘luxury in nature’ themed ‘Scala’ centre and The International Property Awards for The Bartholomew and SQ at Alexandra Park condominiums. Kelly has also been extensively published in the National Post and Globe and Mail, as well as, appearing on HGTV and CityLine as an industry expert.

Neil’s experience in the design and design management of luxury homes and large-scale residential projects is defined by an insightful ability to interpret a client’s vision with a holistic approach. His strong client focus and attention to detail encompasses all aspects of the design process; establishing client trust and creating environments based on their lifestyle and experiences.
Neil is a graduate of Ryerson University’s Interior Design program; he is NCIDQ certified and has completed specialty studies in glass blowing, woodworking and printmaking. Drawing from a broad base of skill sets and experience, Neil has completed projects throughout North America and the Caribbean; resulting in widespread industry and public recognition. Examples of his work have been published in numerous publications including, Azure, House & Home, Bridge and featured in Architecture & Design in Barbados. He most recently was honoured with an award by the Association of Registered Interior Designer’s of Ontario (ARIDO) for his design of a 25,000 square foot private residence.

Nancy’s strong organizational and analytical skills balance the artistic aspect of a design business to ensure sound economic performance. She has worked directly with partners Kelly and Neil for over 18 years helping to establish the firm’s competitive edge and its reputation amongst peers and industry leaders as a company of integrity and fairness.
Nancy graduated from the University of Guelph and holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree; having worked in both the hospitality and design industries she understands well that in a creative field no two projects are ever the same. Nancy executes the strategies that steer the day to day operations of U31 with flexible and astute business acumen.
